While browsing Reddit today, I found some really good pics of the Neowise comet on R/EarthPorn. This inspired me to work on a minimal landscape version of the comet flying over a lake.
The piece makes heavy use of the gradient tool in Affinity Designer. Happy to say that I am getting comfortable with using gradients to capture somewhat natural lighting conditions. The stars were painful to make. I spent quite a bit of time trying to distribute them evenly across the canvas. Truthfully, I still don’t like how they fit into the piece at the moment but I didn’t want to spend more time on them, so I just let them be.
