Stacked Squares

This was hard!!! I was aiming for a stack of squares in a sort of a nested pattern on the grid. Something similar to this one. Additionally, I wanted to make it a little unpredictable and therefore not be super neat and precise.

I had to work this problem out on a notebook because the Cartesian co-ordinate system really tends to break my brain. I kid you not, it physically hurts me when I contemplate creating sufficiently complex things in the X, Y co-ordinate systems. I can only imagine how much more pain the third dimension (Z) will bring.

I have lost the source code to the processing file so this rough note above is all that remains of the piece.

Normally, I commit all code to a private repository on Github but it seems I got sloppy and forgot to do that. This is the reason why I can’t seem to find the code for quite a few of the pieces that I have posted here. I changed my laptops at least twice since I made this and I am sure that the code is lost for good. Gah! Well, that’s life. Remember to backup your stuff, kids!
